About This Cause

Joji “Bong” Barredo was 13 years old when her mother became sick with cancer. God used her sickness to lovingly confront and draw her to Himself. The year before the Lord took her Mama home, Joji asked Jesus to be her Savior during an evangelistic meeting at her church. Her father, Ben Barredo, Sr., remarried in 1979. That year she immigrated to the U.S. with his new wife, Cora, and him. When the plane took off, she knew in her heart that one day God was going to take her back to the Philippines to serve Him.

In 1987, Joji was living in Chicago and working at the Moody Bible Institute when the Lord made it clear that she was to return to the Philippines as a full-time missionary. Entrusting everything to God, she quit her job after which God took her to Bible Witness Camp in Pembroke, Illinois. There, she received training in ministry.

With great excitement and trepidation, lacking secure financial support, Joji went back to the Philippines in 1988. There, it became obvious that God was directing her to work with youth and children. In 1989, by God’s grace, Asian Youth and Children Ministries was founded.

Years later, God took Joji back to Chicago and Moody Bible Institute to enroll in Graduate School from which she graduated in May of 1996. She returned to the Philippines to continue the work God had entrusted to her. Joji’s heart’s cry is Jesus. Her life is dedicated to do His will no matter what, wherever, however, whatever, whenever, whoever, forever! All glory to God alone!

By God’s grace and to His glory, “Reaching to save, teaching to serve” is the mission statement of Asian Youth and Children Ministries! AYCM’s primary ministry is camping, and, since 1989, they have reached and taught thousands of youth, children, and adults about God’s love and the gift of salvation in Jesus Christ. Overnight camps are held at AYCM’s Camp JeLoY (“Jesus Loves You”) six times a year, while 22 One-Day Camps (ODC) are held at different places in different towns and cities every Saturday from October to March. Small struggling churches and their pastors are served and encouraged by ODC to help grow their children and youth outreach programs.

God has also entrusted AYCM with JeLoY Christian Church, two kindergartens, an elementary school, and a missionary training school. Other ministries include school retreats for graduating high school and college students, leadership training seminars, Tool Shed Ministry (practical skills training), Bible and Christian literature distribution, and a student scholarship program which has produced professionals and teachers (some of whom teach at AYCM’s schools). All glory to God alone!
