What Is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday started in 2012. It’s a movement that encourages people to do good and be generous in big and small ways, from smiling at your neighbor to making a charitable donation.
While Giving Tuesday encourages generosity all year long, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is the official “Giving Tuesday.” It’s a great reminder that after all the Black Friday sales and the excitement of Christmas shopping, goodness and generosity are still important.
Raise the Roof for Giving Tuesday
This year, ANM is “raising the roof” for Giving Tuesday. Churches around the world are built or in the construction process, but are missing a roof that makes the building functional. A tin roof is the best option, but many congregations and missionaries can’t afford that final piece.
One tin roof for a church costs $900. Your gift of any amount will help roof a church so a congregation can meet and multiply.

Impact of a Tin Roof
A tin roof doesn’t just complete a church building. It turns brick walls into a functional meeting place.
One of the areas of biggest need is Africa. Missionaries and their congregations can easily make mud bricks themselves and construct the walls of a church. When they can’t afford the tin roof, the building goes unused because they have nothing to protect them from sun or rain.
They’ll meet under trees when it’s sunny and skip meetings altogether when it’s rainy. People won’t hear the Gospel, won’t learn from the Bible, and won’t worship together.
When you give a tin roof, you change that reality. The congregation will have a safe, weatherproof meeting place where they can worship and learn together. They can hear the Gospel themselves and invite others to learn about the Savior, Jesus Christ. Your gift will keep giving.
