The Persecuted Church

My Journey of Suffering and Hope

The persecuted church—what does that phrase make you think of? Images of beaten men and women? Burned-out church buildings? People on foot with belongings piled on their backs, fleeing their homeland?

Brother K was eager to sit down and talk with me about his journey of suffering and hope as a follower of Jesus. He grew up in the Middle East, came to Christ as a teenager, and was forced to re-settle his family here in the U.S. after receiving death threats for activities as a ministry leader. I discovered that he sees persecution not only as an inevitable part of a Christian’s life, but also as the way God shapes the character of the Christian. Brother K is passionate about Jesus and seeing the church proclaim Christ boldly, even at the price of suffering.
